Welcome! I’m Dr. Madhu Dutta-Koehler: architect, urban planner, entrepreneur, educator, and social justice warrior, among other hats I wear.

Human-centered planning. Sustainable environmental practice. Elegant yet functional architecture. Biophilic design. Climate solutions with immediate impact. I’m passionate about all of these fields of action and inquiry, and more. I unapologetically refuse to choose among them.

Since you are here reading this, chances are that, like me, you are invested in making impactful change for yourself, your community, your city and our planet. For you. For me. For us all. These changes must be powered by green, by wellness, by technology, and by human ingenuity. This means going back to our roots, but rethinking how we live. It means being able to Breathe Green.

Depending on whom you ask, I am an MIT-educated dreamer, an innovator and designer since I can remember. I have been a professor and have run my design practice for over two decades, establishing the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Urbanability along the way.

Most important, I am a rebel with a cause: to make the world a better place by creating people-, plant-, and planet-friendly greenprints, policies, and movements, for greener and more healthy environments.

Interdisciplinary thinking, adaptive intelligence and problem-solving shape my thought and practice. I am an action-oriented researcher, passionate speaker, and practitioner committed to introducing and championing environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable practices in architecture, design, policy, and urban planning.

I am a believer of transformational change; an optimist; a dancer; and a plant lover. I am a city kid but the only place where I feel peace is the great outdoors. I want to be healthy and happy, and want to share, collaborate, create, and change the world with you. Which is why I founded The Greener Health Company, a benefit corporation with a pledge to do just that!
